Often, temperament is based on proper early on and continued training. Our goal is to give your puppy the best opportunity possible to grow and thrive in your home. Choosing to enroll your puppy into our program will be the most important gift you will ever give to your puppy, your family and yourself. Puppy training starts at 8 weeks of age and can go from 2 weeks to 16 weeks. Length of time is based on each families needs.
Being your dogs leader is most important to having a well-behaved family friend. Sometimes we allow bad behaviors because at first they are cute little antics. Soon, those antics become annoying and even embarrassing when company arrives. Our personal training option will help rid your older puppy or adult dog of these unwanted behaviors like jumping up and guarding high value items.

Because we care about our puppies and the families that adopt them we are sure that each puppy receives the best care before they go home. At about 7 weeks of age the puppies embark on their first big adventure as they make a visit to our local veterinarian for their first round of vaccinations. They also receive a full health exam and are assigned their very own health record. When families pick their puppy up at 8 weeks of age they will receive information on their puppy's microchip, a health record. We give a lifetime of support to all of our families and puppies.

***Always keep in mind that no breed is hypoallergenic. Some breeds or crosses are better for those with allergy concerns but we encourage every family with the possibility of an allergic reaction occurring to please test the waters with a friend, family member or co-workers doodle before considering bringing home a puppy. Also, relay your allergy concerns when speaking with us so that we are able to help you choose the best puppy for your needs.

Our primary focus when choosing puppy parents is that their health and temperament will compliment one another. In our eyes, color is only a bonus when a family chooses their puppy. Temperament should always be the primary focus. For that reason our puppies value is all the same. We will never put a price tag on specific colors, gender or sizes of puppies.

Puppy Training

TRAINING IS AVAILABE FOR ALL PUPPIES OF ALL BREEDS THAT ARE AT LEAST 12 WEEKS OF AGE WHO ARE FULLY VACCINATED. PROOF OF VACCINATIONS BY A LICENSED VETRENARIAN IS REQUIRED.
Once a Prairie Creek Kennel puppy reaches 8 weeks of age families have the option to take their puppy home or enroll him/her into our puppy training program. Puppy training includes crate training, learning to potty outside, simple commands such as sit and down. We help your puppy to walk on a leash and to gain basic house manners such as not jumping up on visitors and barking. Length of training and its content is based on each family's needs and how little or how much work they want to do when their puppy arrives home. Our primary focus is on manners as they are critical to a well rounded puppy and happy home. Basic skills like crate training, simple commands and leash walking can be achieved in 2-4 weeks. Whereas more polished skills such as proper house manners and more in depth obedience training and house breaking can be achieved in 6-16 weeks.
With all of our training programs your puppy will receive a leash & collar, size appropriate crate with bed for inside. All vaccinations and de-wormings will be up-to-date, a gift bag with your puppy's favorite treats and toys, microchip through AKC Reunite. We will also give weekly progress reports along with photo updates. You'll receive a packet listing training tips and notes specific to your puppy. You'll meet with us when you pick your puppy up so we can show you how to keep his training intact. Finally, we offer a lifetime of support to you and your puppy. Whether your fur-baby is 4 months old or 14 years old we are always available for help, guidance and advice.
Puppy training is $350 per week or $50 per day. All puppies that stay with us 12 weeks or longer can be spayed or neutered for an additional $300 to cover the cost of the procedure and aftercare. Cost may vary based on size, age and complexity of the procedure.

Puppy Training Options

2 Week Program

Our 2 week program is designed to acclimate your puppy to home life and ready him to join your family. The first few weeks together can by trying on both humans and puppy and proper training helps to alleviate unwanted stress. Typically, puppies will learn to accept their crate and sleep from 7-9 hours through the night within the first 2 weeks. This allows you to be well-rested and ready to be your best self. We will also work on basic commands such as sit and quiet and introduce your puppy to the leash walk. While we also practice eliminating outside, this program only allows for the beginning stages of housebreaking. our 2 weeks program is for the family who wants to do most of training themselves but who will benefit from a little bit of help.

3-4 Week Program

Our 3-4 week program is a continuation of our 2 week program. We will be adding more commands such as down and off, reinforcing appropriate behavior in the crate and while on a leash. We'll also begin basic manners work that includes correcting undesirable behaviors like mouthing, nipping and barking. Expecting your puppy to display appropriate manners or to be accepting of a correction to stop inappropriate actions is acceptable at this age. While he may need to be reminded of right from wrong he should know that "no means no". We will also continue on with housebreaking and while there is still work to be done at home a good foundation will be in place. Choosing the 3-4 week program will give you a bit more rounded puppy when he arrives in his forever home.

6-8 Week Program

Yet another continuation of our previous training, our 6-8 week programs will give you a well-rounded and mannered puppy. While this is the adolescent stage of your puppy's life and mischief may be at it's peak he should still be well on his way to achieving greatness. There is still work to do in the housebreaking department but the majority has been competed for you. It will be up to you to reinforce at home what has been taught so you can maintain the training your puppy has received. Our 6-8 week program is for the family who wants to have minimal work to do when their puppy arrives home or for the firs time puppy adopter.

10-12 Week Program

Following up with prior weeks of training manners, housebreaking and socialization will be our main focus. In our 10-12 week program we will continue to introduce new people. places and situations. Reinforce housebreaking while encouraging your puppy to give a signal when he needs to go outside. We will also begin our "zero tolerance" rule for bad behaviors such as jumping up and not sitting while receiving affection. Previously we would give your puppy an opportunity to correct his bad behavior on his own. Now, appropriate behavior is expected and we reward these behaviors with lots of love and affection. This program is perfect for any family wanting a "turn-key" puppy.

14-16 Week Program

Our 14-16 week program is our complete training program. Your puppy is now ready to be an active part of your family. With any training you must reinforce rules and boundaries. However, a solid foundation is firmly in place. Puppies that complete our 14-16 weeks program have polished manners and housebreaking skills, are appropriately socialized and will be beyond the mischief stages of adolescence. The 14-16 week program is for the family wanting a fully trained puppy
